We have been reading Marty McGuire, by Kate Messner. We are connecting with classes all around the world and discussing the book. We are questioning, predicting, writing blog posts, and loving Marty's adventure! Kate Messner, the author, is even doing her own blog! Here is her blog website. It is so cool to hear about Marty from the person who created her!

We have been blogging with classes all around the world:
Seoul, South Korea
Bonavista, Noufoundland, Canada
Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada
New Hartford, Connecticut, USA

We do all sorts of online activities and share them through the blog. It has been amazing seeing how our ideas are the same and different from other kids across the world!

Week 1: Character Maps
We completed character maps about Marty. We talked about what she says, does, feels, likes, and her challenges. Here is an Animoto video of our work.

Week 2: Wordle
We made a Wordle about what we know about Marty so far.

Week 3: Questioning
We asked questions that we are wondering about Marty McGuire. We used a website called Padlet.

Week 4: This week we visualized the scene in Marty when the kids make a sculpture garden to practice improvising for the play. Since we have been writing personal narratives, each student did their own sculpture to go along with their piece of writing. Here is a video of our sculpture garden and our personal narratives!

Week 5: We made posters to advertise for the play, The Frog Prince!

For our Marty Finale, we did a Google Hangout with two classes from Canada! Thank you to Ms. Short's class from Newfoundland, and Mrs. Torrey's class from Alberta! We had a blast sharing our favorite parts with you!
